At Girasoles Family Group Daycare we believe that movement is a child’s first language. Every crawl, every wobbly step, every scribble on a piece of paper is a milestone in their development, one step closer to independence.

Why is motor development so important in early childhood?
Motor skills, both gross and fine, are essential for a child's overall growth. Through movement, children explore the world around them, develop cognitive skills, strengthen their muscles and, above all, gain self-confidence.
Gross motor skills: The basis of everything Jumping, running, climbing... these activities may seem like simple games, but they are actually essential exercises for developing coordination, balance and muscle strength. At Girasoles, we offer a safe and stimulating space for children to move freely and experiment with their bodies.
Fine motor skills: The precision of movement From grasping a toy to buttoning a shirt, fine motor skills are key to independence. At our nursery, we encourage the development of these skills through activities such as painting, modelling with clay, stringing beads and using tweezers.
How does Sunflowers promote the development of motor skills in children?
At Girasoles Family Group Daycare, we have designed an educational program that puts movement at the center of all activities. Some examples of our initiatives are:
Adapted spaces: We have play areas designed specifically for each stage of development, with materials and toys that stimulate movement and exploration.
Outdoor activities: We believe that there is no better place to get active than in nature. That is why we regularly organise outdoor activities such as walks, games in the park and children's gardens.
Sensory games: Through touch, smell and taste, children develop greater body and sensory awareness, which in turn promotes motor development.
Creative activities: Painting, modeling and other artistic activities stimulate hand-eye coordination and creativity, two fundamental aspects for the development of fine motor skills.
The benefits of motor development in early childhood
A child with good motor development is more:
Independent: By acquiring skills such as dressing or eating alone, the child gains self-confidence and feels more capable of facing new challenges.
Safe: Movement allows them to explore their environment with greater safety and confidence.
Creative: Through play and exploration, children develop their imagination and problem-solving skills.
Social: Shared play fosters social relationships and the ability to cooperate with others.
At Girasoles Family Group Daycare, we believe that every child is unique and deserves an environment that allows them to grow and develop at their own pace. We are committed to providing quality care that fosters the holistic development of children, placing special emphasis on movement and exploration.
